The Beginning of October

Friday, October 6th, 2006

Well, another month has begun. I’ll start with an update on my life.

I took my GMAT last Saturday and did well enough that I am not considering taking it again. So now I have 5 years to get myself into a business school program. I really enjoy my work, and I think it is a shame that it’s not possible to move up in the organization without an advanced degree. That’s the major reason I am looking to get my MBA sooner rather than later because I right now (with my limited experience) it seems like Economic Consulting could definitely be the place for me. But, all that is up in the air. We’ll see how it all plays out.

I think I am becoming out of shape due to my sedentary lifestyle. I think I am going to try to cut back on all the fast food. I think I’ll require myself to eat a salad 2 days/week for lunch and limit myself to 2 after work McDonald’s snacks per week. C’mon how bad can a McChicken and a Snack Wrap be? In addition to playing Volleyball for the work team (AG-Unit), I’m going to make sure I do cardio once, and weights once a week as well. That seems like a well-balance workout plan, which I can keep to, because it’s not heavy at all. Gotta start small.

So, I went to PetCo the other day to get a working thermometer for my turtle’s tank. The turtle’s name is Shelton. Here is a picture of him:

Shelton - 2 Months Old - Eats Dinner

I got him in October of 2005 when he was just a little baby. He was about the size of a silver dollar. He is 2 months old in this picture. He has probably at least quintupled in size over the last year. Apparently, if kept properly, they can stay alive for up to 30 years. Let’s see how Shelton is doing in 2020! Anyway, I went to PetCo, and decided that it was time for him to eat live fish. So I asked the PetCo man for fish for my turtle. He started getting these fish that were way too big for Shelton to eat, and I said, woah woah, I need smaller fish. The nice Petco man told me that smaller fish would evade Shelton too easily, so I needed to get medium sized ones. I got 5 of them.
So… I brought them home, ready to feed my voracious little friend. I put them in, and nothing. I was all excited, with my video camera, ready to tape the feeding frenzy… Nothing. He didn’t even acknowledge their existence. Then the next day, I wake up. Still 5 fish. Lame.

The next day, I can’t seem to find a fish. He ATE ONE. YES!! And now there are 3. I just wanna SEE him eat one. Tomorrow I am going to get him a larger tank, more little fish to eat, and a nice platform to bask on. Turtles are a pain to take care of, but they’re so much more fun, and less delicate than fish.

That’s all for today.
