I love investing. I have been investing in the public markets for over 23 years. Since 2008, I have been operating a basic algorithmic strategy that has beaten the S&P500 by ~80bps annually. I have also been an angel investor since 2013. I have evaluated thousands of private deals across venture capital, private equity, real estate, and other asset classes, and have written ~70 checks in the last 10 yrs. I’ve performed the best investing in people and areas I know well.
My joy from private investing comes primarily from helping talented entrepreneurs solve tough problems and build their companies through my advisory work and angel investing support. I provided funding to companies in two ways: either through my role as a General Partner at 4DX Ventures or directly from my personal investment fund.

My personal investment fund is concentrated in industries where I have deep experience or expertise and people in whom I have developed deep trust. “Relationships are the most important thing” in many disciplines. IMHO, private investing is one of them.
